Located in scenic Blackwood, New Jersey, Northbrook services patients from throughout New Jersey. Northbrook is proudly affiliated with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) and the Cooper University Health Care Psychiatry Residency Program as an educational and training site for medical students and psychiatry residents. Northbrook is also accredited by the Joint Commission (TJC).

THERAPY

Northbrook’s acclaimed Adjunctive Therapy Department is virtually unparalleled in any hospital of its kind.

The robust department includes 20 full-time adjunct therapists who are highly trained and credentialed in a broad range of specialties.

These include: 5 Mental Health Counselors, 6 Music Therapists (with cross-training in mental health counseling), Art Therapist, Chaplain/Counselor with Spirituality Focus, Marriage/Family Therapist, Recreation Therapist, 4 Substance Abuse Counselors including an LCADC, and a Peer Recovery Support Specialist.

Dream Team

The Social Work department at Northbrook is comprised of more than 20 social workers, ranging from bachelor level to licensed clinical social workers.

A designated social worker is assigned to each patient to help meet their needs while in the hospital and to set them up for success upon discharge. Each patient leaves with a personalized discharge plan, wrap around services, and a follow-up appointment within 7 days of discharge.

Our team can help link patients with social services, housing programs, insurance, general assistance, food stamps, and vouchers.

Dr Kurani provides clinical and administrative oversight over a team of 20 full-time and part-time practitioners including psychiatrists, Internal medicine consultants, and Psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Randi Hershkowitz

Randi Hershkowitz, MSN, RN, PMH-BC

CNO and Senior Vice President

Northbrook Behavioral Health Hospital has announced Randi Hershkowitz, MSN, RN, PMH—BC as Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President as of August 2022. In the nursing profession for 35 years, Mrs. Hershkowitz began her career in critical care nursing and has dedicated the last 33 years to Behavioral Health.

Dr. Raghuraj S. Tomar, MD

Director of Medical Services

Dr. Tomar joined the clinical team at NBHH in 2015 as the Director of Medical Services. He leads a team of physicians and Nurse Practitioners that provides concurrent medical care to patients hospitalized at NBHH for mental health treatment.

There are many different options for therapeutic fields of practice, and for Corey, there are none as rewarding as inpatient psychiatric care, specifically at Northbrook.     Visitation Policy

    Northbrook Behavioral Health Hospital understands that family and friends play an important role in our patient’s mental health journey.

    We offer visitation daily, by appointment, to those who would like to come and meet with their loved ones. Please see below for our visitation schedule:

    Monday-Friday: 6pm-8pm
    Saturday-Sunday & Holidays: 12:45-2:45pm

    Please note, in order to attend visitation you must first schedule an appointment by calling our visitation phone line: 856-739-2975. You can also schedule through your loved one’s Social Worker. We ask that you review our visitation guidelines listed below before coming to Northbrook Behavioral Health Hospital:

    • If you are experiencing a cough, fever or chills, headache, body aches, sore throat, or nausea or have tested positive for Covid in the last 5 days, please do not attend visitation.
    • There are 2 visitors allowed per time slot. All visitors must be over the age of 18. Please be sure to bring a form of ID to check in.
    • Do not bring any food, drink, or belongings into the building with you. You are subject to metal detector or wand search with our security team at the time of your arrival.
    • Please note that patients have the right to refuse visits. If the patient does not agree to visit with you, you will be asked to leave.
    • We understand that you may be excited to see your family member when you arrive, unfortunately there will be no physical touching or exchanging of goods allowed. Physical touching includes, but is not limited to, hugging, kissing, handshakes, etc.
    • Please use the front entrance when arriving for your time slot.
